Jay-Z is taking fans inside the music that helped shape his legendary career.
The new HBO documentary series JAŸ-Z In 8 premieres Friday, Sept. 18, at 8 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max. It brings Jay-Z together with longtime friend and producer Rick Rubin, as the two revisit stories, lyrics, and creative decisions behind songs spanning more than three decades of his catalog.
The eight-part series reaches back to Jay-Z’s earliest work and explores records from throughout his career. That of course includes massive hits, fan favorites, and B-side bangers that helped define different eras of his music.
Each episode centers on a different theme, allowing Jay to explain his work through his own experiences and perspective.
