It\u2019s been an interesting decade for music sensation Lizzo ever since her 2019 mainstream breakthrough thanks to a trifecta of hits with \u201cJuice,\u201d \u201cGood As Hell\u201d and chart-topper, \u201cTruth Hurts.\u201d Multiple GRAMMY wins, a documentary on HBO Max and the Emmy-winning reality series, Lizzo\u2019s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls<\/em>, all soon followed. However, a series of scathing lawsuits<\/a> thrown against her back in 2023 slowed much of her good fortune down, leading to a huge drop in record sales and scrutiny based on the allegations. <\/p>\n

Things may be looking up though for the Special <\/em>singer following news that a federal judge dismissed all remaining claims in the case made against her and the production company, Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc. She celebrated by silently-yet-happily sharing the ruling on her social platforms.<\/p>\n

It was all so shocking because I was being sued by someone who admittedly never met me.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to praise those who made it possible for the truth to be revealed, a moment she always knew would come even in the midst of premature ridicule from the public. In her note she writes, \u201cI prayed for the truth to come out and thanks to my incredible lawyers, the truth has prevailed. That truth matters more to me than anything, and I told y\u2019all I will not settle and will continue to fight every vicious claim that has been made against me and my businesses. \u201cIn his ruling, [US district judge Fernando L Aenlle-Rocha] said [Asha] Daniels failed to identify conduct by company employees that would constitute \u2018general hostility\u2019 toward women or disparate treatment between men and women at the workplace. \u2018This alleged conduct and these alleged incidents, while inappropriate and unprofessional, fall within the scope of what the Supreme Court has held to be outside the protection of Title VII as part of the \u2018ordinary tribulations of the workplace,\u2019\u2019 he wrote.<\/em><\/p>\n

Daniels also claimed disability discrimination, citing an injury from a wardrobe manager who allegedly rolled a heavy clothing rack over her foot and pushed her. But while \u2018the court does not seek to minimize or disregard the pain plaintiff felt from these injuries\u2019, the judge decided that said injuries did not meet the requirements set forth by the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA).\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The latest win could be a foreshadowing to how the separate lawsuit filed by three former backup dancers will unfold. Together they brought forth accusations of a hostile work environment, using examples of chastising a dancer for gaining weight, sexual harassment at a club in Amsterdam and a 12-hour audition used as a form of punishment. <\/p>\n

The case is onging, although a judge already dismissed the fat-shaming claim in December 2025. Has Lizzo been misunderstood this whole time? Better yet, did she ever deserve the career-altering smear campaign to begin with?<\/p>\n
